Blood Orange and Raspberry Smoothie

2 servings (about 2 cups)

This recipe pairs juicy raspberries with refreshing blood orange juice. Both raspberries and blood oranges get their red color from anthocyanins, plant pigments that have strong antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. To maximize its health boosting potential, this smoothie recipe also calls for flaxseed oil which provides omega-3 fatty acids.

Blood orange and raspberry smoothie


  • ¾ cup blood orange juice
  • 1 ½ cups (185 g) raspberries
  • 2 teaspoons flaxseed oil
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • Fresh mint, for garnish


  • Blend the blood orange juice, raspberries, and flaxseed oil in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  • Add the crushed ice and mix again.
  • Pour into into small glasses and garnish with fresh mint. Serve with quirky eco-straws made of stainless steel, glass, or bamboo.
