How to Make Nut Butter with the Omega 8006 Juicer

Nut butter made in Omega Juicer

There is nothing like the flavor of homemade almond or peanut butter, and if you have the Omega 8006 Juicer (aka Omega J-8006 Nutrition Center), you can use your juicer to make nut butter. Not only is it relatively easy to make a batch of almond butter or any other type of nut butter with the Omega slow juicer, you will also have full control over what goes into your nut butter: you can skip the preservatives and salt that are often added to store-bought almond and peanut butters.

When making your own nut butters with the Omega juicer, you can also get inventive and experiment with various nuts and combinations of nuts like almonds, peanuts, cashew nuts, pecans, walnuts, tiger nuts and pistachios. You can also jazz up the basic recipe by stirring in spices like cardamom or cinnamon at the end of the process. Or, mix in a bit of superfood powder such as acai or maqui powder for an extra dose of antioxidants.

Ingredients

According to the user manual of the Omega 8006 slow juicer, you will need the following ingredients to make a batch of plain nut butter:

  • 2 to 3 cups of nuts (e.g. almonds or peanuts)
  • Peanut oil (or other nut oil)
  • Salt (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Remove all shells and skins from the nuts.
  2. Replace the juicing cone with the homogenizer (blank cone).
  3. Place small handfuls of nuts in the chute of the juicer. Note that some nuts may require pre-soaking before they can be processed with the Omega slow juicer.
  4. Allow the juicer to process the nuts, and then place the next handful. Repeat until all the nuts are gone.
  5. Check the consistency, and process the ground nuts again if necessary. According to the user manual and the manufacturer's website, you may have to run the nuts through the machine several times until oils start to appear.
  6. Transfer to a bowl, and combine with the rest of the ingredients.
  7. Pour the mixture into the Omega juicer one more time.
